The topic of the final Panel Discussion at the National Financial Inclusion Conference is on 'MUDRA: Vision and Way Forward'.
Background
Launched with a vision to ‘fund the un-funded’ Micro and Small Enterprises Sector in India, MUDRA has garnered considerable interest from financial institutions and stakeholders across the spectrum. The Agency proposes to accredit, refinance and regulate microfinance institutions and other last-mile service providers. Presently RBI regulates entities registered as NBFC-MFIs and other microfinance institutions comply with RBI’s guidelines with respect to priority sector lending norms. While MUDRA has the potential to transform the landscape of small businesses in India, more clarity is required on its regulatory and operational framework.
Panelists:
Mr T K Arun, Editor, Times Opinion (Moderator)
Mr S Ramakrishnan, CGM, SFMC, SIDBI
Mr Jiji Mammen, Chief Executive Officer, MUDRA
Mr P. N. Vasudevan, Managing Director, Equitas Holdings
